CERTIFICATIONS THAT MATTER

ASE Certification

The gold standard for automotive technicians. ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) tests cover specific systems. Look for ASE Master Technician status.

NC Licensed Inspection Station

Required to perform NC state safety and emissions inspections. Indicates the shop meets state facility and equipment standards.

BBB Accreditation

Better Business Bureau accreditation shows commitment to resolving customer complaints and ethical business practices.

AAA Approved Auto Repair

AAA-approved shops meet strict standards for technician certification, customer satisfaction, and facility quality.

Manufacturer Training

Factory-trained technicians have completed brand-specific training programs (e.g., Freightliner, Cummins, Ford).

5 QUESTIONS TO ASK BEFORE APPROVING REPAIRS

"Can I get a written estimate before you start?"

Why it matters: A reputable shop will always provide a detailed written estimate. NC law requires authorization before performing work.

"What's your warranty on parts and labor?"

Why it matters: Quality shops stand behind their work. Look for minimum 12-month/12,000-mile warranty. CTR Repair offers 24-month/24,000-mile on most repairs.

"Are your technicians ASE certified?"

Why it matters: ASE certification proves the technician has passed standardized competency tests. It's not required by law, but it's the industry standard for quality.

"Can you show me what's wrong?"

Why it matters: A trustworthy shop will walk you to your vehicle and show you the worn brake pads, leaking hose, or damaged part. If they refuse, that's a red flag.

"Do you use OEM or aftermarket parts?"

Why it matters: Both can be appropriate depending on the repair. A good shop will explain the options, quality differences, and price differences so you can make an informed choice.
