A no-start event costs $500–$1,000+ per day in lost revenue, emergency service, and towing. CTR's systematic battery testing identifies weak batteries before they fail — and our same-day replacement gets you back on the road fast.
Battery problems are the most common cause of commercial truck no-start events — and the most commonly misdiagnosed. A dead battery can be caused by the battery itself, the alternator, a parasitic drain, or simply corroded connections. Replacing batteries without diagnosing the root cause leads to repeat failures.
CTR's battery service starts with systematic testing — individual load testing, bank testing, parasitic drain measurement, and charging system verification. We identify the actual cause before recommending any replacement.
Group 31 commercial-grade batteries in stock for same-day replacement. Located on Armentrout Drive directly off I-85 at Exit 58. All service backed by our 3-year, 36,000-mile warranty.
Individual battery load testing plus bank testing — we identify exactly which batteries are failing and why.
Precision ammeter testing identifies circuits drawing excessive power when the truck is off.
Industry-leading warranty on all battery service. Installation, cable work, and disconnect switch service covered.
Since 1995, diagnosing and servicing commercial truck battery systems on every major platform.
Scheduled testing, proactive replacement scheduling, and charging system monitoring for fleet operators.
Freightliner, Kenworth, Peterbilt, Volvo, Mack, International, Western Star, Hino — all brands serviced.
Every battery service starts with accurate diagnosis. We test before we replace. Click any service for details.
Group 31 commercial-grade batteries in stock for same-day replacement. Complete bank replacement — never mixing new and old. Proper terminal torque, corrosion prevention, battery box and hold-down verification.
Battery problems give advance warning. Catching them early prevents roadside no-starts that cost far more than proactive replacement.
Weak batteries, corroded connections, or undersized cables reducing cranking amperage.
Parasitic drain or batteries that can no longer hold charge. Needs diagnosis.
Battery bank degradation or charging system not maintaining proper voltage.
Charging system not maintaining proper voltage. Batteries running on stored charge only.
Acid vapor, moisture, and electrochemical reaction creating resistance at connections.
Overcharging, internal short, or heat damage. Replace immediately — safety hazard.
Battery overcharging producing hydrogen sulfide gas. Indicates excessive heat.
Loose connections, weak batteries, or voltage fluctuations affecting electronic systems.
Battery bank cannot support electrical demand. Degraded capacity or charging issue.
Low voltage causing ECM, TCM, and ABS modules to log errors and illuminate warnings.
Mixing new and old batteries in a parallel bank causes the new batteries to degrade rapidly. New batteries have lower internal resistance and will overwork trying to compensate for aged batteries. Always replace the complete bank. Call CTR at (704) 786-0132 for same-day battery bank replacement.

Cold weather reduces battery capacity while simultaneously increasing engine cranking resistance. This double impact is why marginal batteries fail on cold mornings.
| Temperature | Capacity | Cranking | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| 80°F (27°C) | 100% | Normal | Full rated CCA available |
| 32°F (0°C) | ~65% | 2× harder | Cold oil increases resistance |
| 0°F (−18°C) | ~40% | 3× harder | Marginal batteries will fail |
Pre-Winter Testing: Schedule battery testing in October before cold weather hits. A battery that starts your truck in July at 65% capacity may not start it in January at 40% capacity with 3× cranking resistance. Proactive replacement is far cheaper than an emergency no-start.
CTR's shop is equipped with digital load testers, conductance analyzers, precision ammeters for parasitic drain testing, and voltage drop testing equipment. We use the same diagnostic approach as dealerships — but without the dealership markup or the 2-week wait.
CTR works with fleet managers to establish systematic battery management — scheduled testing at every PM, proactive group replacement scheduling, charging system monitoring, and cable maintenance. Prevent no-start events before they happen.
