Commercial vehicle welding isn't decorative — it's structural. Frame cracks, spring hanger failures, cross member damage, and body structural repairs all require proper technique, correct filler materials, and understanding of the base metal being welded.
CTR provides MIG, TIG, and Stick welding for steel, aluminum, and stainless steel applications. From frame crack repair to custom bracket fabrication, every weld is performed with proper preparation, preheat when required, and post-weld inspection.
Located on Armentrout Drive directly off I-85 at Exit 58. All structural repairs backed by our 3-year, 36,000-mile warranty.
MIG, TIG, and Stick welding for every application.
Frame repairs that meet FMCSA structural requirements.
Brackets, mounts, guards, and specialty components.
Industry-leading warranty on structural repairs.
Frame repair to custom fabrication. Click any service for details.
Complete frame crack identification, preparation, preheat, welding with matched filler material, post-weld inspection, and reinforcement when appropriate.
At weld joints, bolt holes, and section changes. Even hairline cracks propagate under cyclic loading.
Visible during loading/unloading or over uneven surfaces. Indicates structural compromise.
Sagging suspension on one side, unusual ride, or metal-on-metal noise from suspension area.
Doors not closing, body panels shifted, cab sitting unevenly — indicates frame distortion.
Surface rust is cosmetic, but deep corrosion reduces load capacity and creates stress risers.
Visible soot, audible noise from wrong locations, or exhaust odor in cab.

Frame cracks don't fix themselves — they propagate under cyclic loading until structural failure occurs. Early detection and proper repair prevents catastrophic failure and the much higher costs that come with it.
Most commercial truck frames are High-Strength Low-Alloy steel. Welding without proper preheat causes hydrogen cracking in the heat-affected zone — the repair fails worse than the original crack.
The filler wire must match the base metal strength. Using standard mild steel filler on HSLA frame rail creates a weak point. We select filler material matched to the specific application.
A frame crack is a symptom. The cause may be overloading, suspension problems, missing or broken cross members, or fatigue from severe service. Fixing the crack without addressing the cause guarantees recurrence.
Every structural weld is visually inspected for proper profile, fusion, and freedom from defects. Critical repairs receive additional non-destructive examination when appropriate.
